Independent Scholar

Welcome! I am an independent scholar and K-16+ educator who is equally passionate about teaching, service, and scholarship.  I currently serve as Founding Visionary and Executive Director for Code Switch: Restorative Justice for Girls of Color.  My work  in education focuses on amplifying the voices and experiences of Black students, families, and communities, and dismantling systems of oppression rooted in race and racism.  My research interest include culturally relevant pedagogy, the school-to-prison pipeline, Black teacher counter spaces, racial justice for Black girls and women,  and social justice leadership.

When I am not teaching, you will find me reading a good book, writing poetry, people watching, or traveling the world with family.  Feel free to explore these pages to learn more the happenings in my work, and by all means, if interested in connecting to inquire about current projects, please reach out via the contact page.  Namaste!
