Assistant Professor

Habari Gani!  I am a Nationally Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) currently serving as an assistant professor at Touro University Nevada (TUN).  Committed to engaging humanizing praxis, my research interests include educational equity, culturally relevant pedagogy, the school-to-prison pipeline, teacher of color counter spaces, and educational leadership.

I am equally passionate about teaching and achieving racial equity and justice for  historically marginalized and minoritized communities.  I consider this work my life's purpose.  When I am not teaching, you will find me reading a good book, writing poetry, people watching, or traveling the world with family.

Feel free to explore these pages to learn more about my teaching, service, and research, and by all means don't forget to stop by the TonyaTalks Blog to see what's on my mind.  If interested in connecting to discuss current research and/or upcoming projects, please reach out via the contact page.  Namaste!
